Fascia & Soffit Cleaning

Fascia and Soffit Cleaning / UPVC Cleaning

For most of us, our homes are the most valuable asset we own, so we take care to keep our homes in good repair, protecting our investment.

We are all familiar with the guttering system on our homes and why it is important to clean out our gutters on a regular basis, but we may not be quite as familiar with our Fascia and Soffits and the need to maintain them.

So what exactly are Fascia and Soffits and what do they do?

Fascia and Soffit boards are two of the most important components of a roofs anatomy, performing important roles.

Stagnant heat and moisture can wreak havoc on attics and roofs. So Soffit boards contain small ventilation openings that allow your attic to breathe, helping to prevent your rafters from rotting.

Fascia boards serve a different but equally important role in preventing roof and attic damage due to moisture ingress. They serve as a barrier between your roofline and the elements.

The Fascia board is the long board (facing you) that runs along the under edge of the roof to which the guttering is secured.

The Soffit board is attached to the bottom of the Fascia board, running at a right angle to it.

Why is Fascia & Soffit Board Cleaning important?

Here are just a few reasons;

1. Job performance

As we just mentioned, Soffit boards contain ventilation holes, which need to be kept clean and clear for them to perform their job as intended. These ventilation holes aren’t very large, so it doesn’t take much dirt, traffic pollution or cobwebs to start inhibiting the free-flow of air.

2. Avoid costly repairs

Even the most beautiful brand new Fascia and Soffits if neglected will start to deteriorate over time, exposing our roofs to potential problems and costly repairs. But if we maintain these areas with regular Fascia and Soffit cleaning these important areas can be kept in good repair.

3. Any installation issues become apparent nice and early

If our Fascia and Soffits do become damaged, we want to catch the problem early. This way, repair costs can be kept to a minimum before the damage spreads and gets out of hand. By keeping our Fascia and Soffits nice and clean, any issues will be visible straight away, not camouflaged by grime and mould etc.

4. Lengthening the lifespan of your Fascia and Soffits

Fascia and Soffits are costly to replace and repair, so we want our Fascia and Soffits to last and look in tip top condition for as long as possible. By regularly cleaning your Fascia and Soffits you can keep the UPVC protective coating in good condition for years to come.

5. Curb appeal

The build-up of cobwebs, algae, dirt, and traffic pollution can cause your Fascia and Soffits to look unkempt, dirty and uncared for, and this can bring down the appearance of your entire home. And who wants that?

Fascia and Soffits are one of the first things visitors see when approaching our home, and nothing looks better than bright clean Fascia and Soffits, so it’s worth giving these areas attention even from a purely aesthetic point of view.

6. Increasing the value and saleability of your home

If you are looking to sell your home, one of the areas prospective buyers will take particular note of is your homes Fascia and Soffits. Are they in good repair? Do they look like they’ll need replacing soon?

Allow your potential buyers to see that your Fascia and Soffits are in good repair by keeping them clean.

Time to call in the professionals

For most homes, cleaning the Fascia and Soffits requires working at height, probably at the top of a ladder. This makes Fascia and Soffit cleaning a potentially dangerous task.

At Pure Water Window Cleaning we are well equipped to clean your Fascia and Soffits from the safety of the ground.

What’s involved in our Fascia and Soffit board cleaning service?

We have learned a lot about how to achieve the very best results when cleaning Fascia and Soffits over the years, constantly honing the service we offer.

Our Fascia and Soffit cleaning service involves washing the Fascia and Soffit boards and box ends along with the outside of the Gutters.

Our Fascia & Soffit Cleaning is a two-step process. – Firstly, we apply a powerful foaming cleaning solution that gets in to all the nooks and crannies and effectively works to remove any grease, traffic film, mould, algae and lichens etc.

We then use Pure Water with our extendable poles and specially designed brush head to gently but effectively scrub away all the dirt. This dirt is then rinsed away with Pure Water.

Pure Water in itself has amazing intrinsic cleaning qualities, so when we pair Pure Water with the application of an initial cleaning solution, we can achieve excellent results.

Can you clean wooden Fascia and Soffits boards or only those made of UPVC?

Yes, we can, and we do! However the results we achieve will depend greatly on the condition of the wood and paintwork. In our experience, the results we achieve when cleaning UPVC Fascia and Soffits are often significantly better than when compared to the results achieved when cleaning wooden Fascia and Soffits that have not been maintained. This is because dirt and grime over time becomes literally etched in to the wooden Fascia and Soffits.

Will my Fascia and Soffits boards look like new after the clean?

We will do our very best to get them looking like new, and without a doubt your Fascia and Soffits will look significantly better. We regularly clean very dirty Fascia and Soffits producing amazing “as new” results. We have produced a number of videos of our Fascia and Soffit cleans in action along with before and after shots to help our customers get an idea of the kind of results they can expect to achieve. (You can view these videos on our Facebook page)

However, as mentioned earlier, the results we achieve will depend largely on the condition of your fascia and soffits.

UPVC can become stained over time. This staining is extremely difficult to remove and may not be fully removed during the cleaning process.

And as mentioned earlier, wooden Fascia and Soffits may not clean up as well as UPVC Fascia and Soffit boards.

What about other parts of my home made of UPVC, can you clean them?

Yes, absolutely! It is very popular to have UPVC cladding on our homes these days, as it makes a brilliant and practical feature?

We employ the same cleaning technique for UPVC cladding cleaning as we do for our Fascia & Soffit Cleaning service.

We can either offer you a one-off clean of these areas, or why not schedule a quarterly / six monthly or annual clean to be carried out along side your regular window cleaning service.

How often should I get my Fascia and Soffit boards cleaned?

The answer depends entirely on you and your home. Many customers like to book an annual Fascia & Soffit clean along with our Gutter Cleaning service (we offer a discount for having both services carried out together) so as to keep the roof line of their home maintained to as high a standard as possible and looking at it’s absolute best.

But if this isn’t possible for you, then we recommend keeping an eye on your Fascia and Soffits and if you see the vents starting to become filled with grime and cobwebs, then give us a call, and we’ll get your clean booked in as soon as possible.

We would recommend going no longer than 2-3 years between cleans, as you don’t want staining to develop on your UPVC Fascia and Soffits, which can be very hard to remove.

At Pure Water Window Cleaning we take pride in our work, offering what we feel is currently the best Fascia and Soffit / UPVC cleaning service available.
