Many of the homes and businesses we clean have hard-to-reach windows or areas that require specialist window-cleaning equipment that only a professional would use. But it seems that this doesn’t stop some people! While everyone loves to look out of clean windows it’s just not worth risking life and limb to save a few quid if you don’t have the right gear to carry out the clean safely!
In this post we’ve collected a few photos’ showing some of the craziest and most life-threatening attempts at window cleaning that we’ve found. We absolutely DON’T recommend any of these methods!
I’ve even seen some local ‘professional’ window cleanser’s doing this!
The picture above comes from the Daily Mail who ran an article in 2023 talking about how Thomas Leather, a father-of-one falls from a house roof as he tries to clean his windows but fails to get much sympathy from his wife who bemoans “I asked him to do just one job – clean the windows!”
Thomas, 29, was trying to clean the skylight in his home extension – when he started slipping down the roof tiles. Footage shows him grasping for a moment to get his balance before he slides off the roof entirely, bashing into the gutter on the way down. Thankfully, Thomas who works as a roofer, emerged unscathed after his tumble with only his pride getting bruised. Thankfully a very near miss!
