Why Pure Water Window Cleaning Matters (And Why We Use It)

February 17, 2026

If you’ve noticed more window cleaners using long poles and purified water instead of ladders and soap to clean windows, frames, sills and doors accross Crewe and Nantwich, you’re not imagining things.
Pure water window cleaning has become the gold standard across the UK — and for good reason.

At first glance this Pure Water window cleaning method might look unusual, but this modern cleaning method delivers better results, improved safety, and longer-lasting clean windows.

Here’s why pure water cleaning matters and why we use it when cleaning for all our customers in Nantwich, Crewe, Sandbach, Alsager, Holmes Chapel and surrounding areas.

What Is Pure Water Window Cleaning?

There is often some confusion as to what Pure Water actually is. We’ve heard it all. We’ve heard it suggested that Pure Water is boiled water (which it absolutely isn’t), cleaning with boiled water would produce worse results than cleaning with tap water, as the minerals in boiled tap water will be more concentrated after boiling than before.

Pure water window cleaning uses 100% purified, deionised water instead of traditional detergents or tap water.

Tap water contains minerals, salts, metals and disolved solids for example. So when tap water is left to dry on glass naturally, these mineral deposits are left behind on the glass. Thats what the spots and streaks you can see are.

Pure Water is different

To purify tap water we pass it through a number of different filters to remove those minerals we just discussed. We use a process called Reverse Osmosis.

This process removes all impurities. And we can check this by testing the “parts per million” reading, using a TDS metre. Water with a zero parts per million reading is ultra Pure Water. There are no minerals in the water left, so we can clean the windows, frames and sills with Pure Water, leave the glass wet, to air dry naturally, and spots and marks from minerals won’t be left behind on the glass.

Why Deionised Pure Water Water Cleans So Well

Pure water is different to tap water in that it wants to become dirty again – that’s what they say. Pure Water is naturally aggressive at absorbing dirt.

Because it contains no minerals, it actively pulls dirt from glass and frames, breaks down grime and lifts organic buildup like algae and dust.

A different cleaning process

So with Pure Water Window Cleaning we don’t use soapy water. The Pure Water itself has intrinsic cleaning properties, so soapy water isn’t required, and this offers even more benefits.

The benefits of our local Pure Water Window Cleaning service

1, Streak free results – Since Pure Water leaves no residue behind, windows dry naturally without the spotting that minerals left on the glass create.

2, Longer-lasting clean windows – Detergents leave behind a sticky film that actually attracts dirt. As you can imagine, as the wind blows over the glass, dust is blown on to and over the window. So when glass is cleaned with a sticky soap, this dust sticks to the glass. This results in the glass looking dirtier quicker and needing to be cleaned more regularly. With no sticky residue left on the glass after Pure Water window cleaning, our customers notice that their windows stay cleaner for longer (enviroment depending of course).

3, Cleaner frames, sills, doors and corners – We don’t just focus on cleaning the glass. We believe that our windows will only ever look as clean as the frames, and sills that surround them, so with our specially designed brush head, we focus on cleaning the frames and sills too. And this too helps the glass look cleaner for longer. If the frames are dirty, then when it rains, the dirt from the frames will run down on to the freshly cleaned glass, making it dirty. Not so with Pure Water window cleaning.

4, Pure Water Window Cleaning is a safer service all around – It’s safer for our workers who don’t climb ladders risking life and limb. And it’s safer for the properties we clean. We’re not damaging gutters, or roof tiles or gardens etc by the use of ladders.

5, We can reach previously inaccessible windows with the Pure Water window cleaning method too – Velux windows and windows set back over flat roofs for example can usually be reached from the safety of the ground.

6, Pure Water cleaning is versatile, we can also use it to clean Fascia & Soffits, Conservatory Roofs, cladding, Green houses and Solar Panels etc.

Are there any drawbacks to Pure Water Window Cleaning?

There are some limitations to keep in mind.

Because we are cleaning from the ground, the only pressure we can apply to windows (and I’m think velux windows especially) is that which comes from the weight of the pole, brushhead and gravity. So we may not be able to bring seriously soiled velux windows for example, up to he same clean standard as vertical windows (which we can apply more pressure to), especially if they haven’t been cleaned in a long time.

Another limitation is when cleaning conservatory roofs. We can only clean conservatory roofs where all pitches of the roof slope away from the house. As we cannot reach from the ground to clean a pitch sloping towards the house. For the same reason we can’t clean roof lanterns which do require ladder access.

An occasion when we wouldn’t recommend Pure Water Window Cleaning is if your conservatory roof or windows aren’t in good condition, ie, watertight. We flush the areas we clean thoroughly with Pure Water, and the water will hit the windows/doors at all angles. So if your window panes are breaking down (misting up between the panes) or the seals on your conservatory roof aren’t sound and watertight, you may get some water ingress. (Important note; Our Pure Water method certainly won’t cause window seals to break down but if a seal is already breaking down, then it’s of course possible that water will find its way through it).

I’m struggling to think of any more limitations though. So as you can see, this is a great window cleaning method.
